On 13 August, we had the pleasure of commissioning Andrea Leonard at a special service led by Andy Wooding-Jones (the Archdeacon of Rochester). Andrea is joining the team here at Christ Church as our Community Missioner having worked at St Justus, Rochester for the past 4 years.
What’s a Community Missioner?
When we were designing the job for our next Vicar, the trustees deliberately chose the job title “Community Missioner” to put the focus on loving and serving our local community, and helping those who live and work here to experience the fullness of life that Jesus offers to everyone.
So Andrea is a Vicar then?
Yes (although there are some technical differences but you don’t need to worry about those!) If you would like to talk to “The Vicar”, Andrea’s the person! She will be delighted to celebrate with you through Christenings and Weddings, as well as supporting you through bereavement and times of difficulty. Andrea is also part of the team that leads our Sunday worship, takes assemblies in local schools, visits people in residential care homes and people who are too ill to come to church…all the things you might expect a church to offer to the community.
